APRIL 18, 2005 / TCP Press / -- Dream: A Tale of Wonder, Wisdom & Wishes by Susan V. Bosak (TCP Press, 40 pp, full color, $17.95) has just been named as a Children's Choice. Children's Choices are a joint project of the International Reading Association (IRA) and The Children's Book Council. Books are read and voted on by 10,000 children across the United States to choose the ones they like best.

The Children's Choice brings the total number of honors for Dream to five. Other awards are the Adding Wisdom Award, iParenting Award, Teachers' Choice for the Family Award, and American Booksellers Association Book Sense Children's Pick.

A book for all ages, Dream brings together 15 of the top children's illustrators in the world, including two-time Caldecott Medal winners Leo and Diane Dillon, Governor General's Award winner Barbara Reid, and Hans Christian Andersen Medal winner Robert Ingpen. Each illustrator offers a gorgeously illustrated page in a beautifully told poetic story about life's hopes and dreams from childhood to adulthood, inspiring both children and adults.

"Dream was my dream for more than five years," says author Bosak. "It's a book that crosses boundaries, and you never know whether people will 'get it.' I wrote it as a multigenerational book to appeal to children and adults, and encourage thought and discussion. It's wonderful to get this kind of recognition."

The IRA is a nonprofit educational organization whose members include classroom and reading teachers,
school administrators and supervisors, parents, college/university faculty, and others who are dedicated to improving reading instruction and promoting literacy worldwide.

The Children's Choices list of selected books is designed for use not only by teachers, librarians, administrators, and booksellers, but also by parents, grandparents, caregivers, and everyone who wishes to encourage young people to read for pleasure.

Dream by Susan V. Bosak is available in bookstores.
