ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO
Part II of this kit contains a variety of intergenerational activities. Many can be adapted for children of different ages. There are also activities for older adults, including those who may have physical or cognitive limitations. Future kits will continue to offer a selection of activities for young and old.
Each activity starts with its "connections" -- a recommendation of its appropriateness for families, schools, seniors groups/facilities, and/or community groups. In general, connections are prioritized; but in many cases all connections are equally valid. For schools, curriculum connections are listed. Then you'll find a list of all the materials you need and step-by-step directions.
Reading and discussing Something to Remember Me By, the storybook that inspired the national Legacy Project, can be the starting point that leads into other activities.
After the Story Steppingstones section, the Meaningful Mother's Day Gifts and More section suggests creative gift ideas for mothers and grandmothers, and has general activities related to Mother's Day.
The Styles Come and Go section takes an intergenerational look at fashion. It includes a quick tour through the last century of fashion, and a Fashion Then & Now fill-in sheet.
Note that books and websites mentioned in the text are fully referenced in the annotated bibliographies at the end of this kit.
